Softline or Retro finish?

12 July 2023 |

It’s the details that decide on the whole, so which model and type of window finish you use is very important.

Regardless of the window model you decide on (Eco, Classic, Traditional), you have a choice of two standard finishes: Softline or Retro.

When deciding on the type of finish, it is important to bear in mind that the appearance of the window must match both the facade of the building and the interior design.

In this article, we want to show the differences between the standard types of finish:

Softline

all edges of the window (frame and sash) are given a gentle curve/radius. The light and shadow do not create a sharp edge – the light gently flows over the curve giving softness to the form. Softline is a classic (timeless) finish – you could say it is neutral. It suits modern as well as antique or stylised buildings.

Retro

The characteristic milling of the frame and leaf edges is ideal for objects where we want to emphasise their historic character. The milling lines create a refraction of light and clear divisions, giving the form lightness and delicacy despite the use of solid wooden profiles.
