Pine is one of the most popular materials for windows and doors. It is easy to obtain and has good resistance properties. It is also easy to process.
Modern window joinery requires the use of glued laminated timber consisting of 3 or 4 layers of wood. This increases the stability and prevents the wood from bending under the influence of moisture. Moreover, glulam can be formed into curves – so it is possible to produce arched and round windows – it is also strong and lightweight and easy to process and install.
We use two types of laminated pine: finger-jointed pine and solid pine.
Components free of natural defects are cut from solid wood and then joined along their entire length using so-called micro-dovetails to maintain uniformity. Windows manufactured on the basis of plywood with this connection are characterised by high structural strength, but the place of joining is of lesser aesthetic value and is usually painted with opaque paints.
Solid plywood is obtained from larger quantities of wood, as no joints are used along the length. The material is selected so as to obtain the longest possible lots of wood without natural defects. It is ideal for windows finished with transparent coatings.
